Sade Sati Shanti Puja

The Sade Sati Shanti Puja is a traditional Vedic ritual for the seven-and-a-half years when Saturn transits the 12th, 1st and 2nd signs from your natal Moon, performed in your name with Shani mantras and a havan. Sade Sati is a period of pressure and maturity rather than guaranteed hardship, and its effect depends on how Saturn and the Moon sit in your own chart.

  1. Saturn moves slowly: Shani spends about 2½ years in each zodiac sign. Sade Sati is the 7½ years it takes to cross three signs around your Moon.
  2. Phase 1, rising: Saturn enters the sign before your Moon. Pressure builds, plans slow down and you feel the weight of responsibility.
  3. Phase 2, the peak: Saturn crosses your Moon sign. Often the heaviest stretch: tiredness, delays and tests of patience.
  4. Phase 3, setting: Saturn moves on. Lessons settle in and steady, earned results often start to arrive.
  5. What actually helps: a steady routine, honest effort, Saturday seva and Shani mantra, and a chart check of how strong your Saturn and Moon are.

How is the Sade Sati Shanti Puja performed?

It is performed on your behalf, usually on a Saturday, with a sankalpa in your name, so you don’t need to be present. Arjun first confirms from your chart that the dosha is actually present and not cancelled, then the priests perform the ritual and you receive confirmation once it is complete.

Frequently asked questions

Am I in Sade Sati now?

It depends on your Moon sign. Arjun checks your natal Moon against Saturn’s current sign in a consultation.

Is Sade Sati always difficult?

No. People with a strong Saturn, or Moon signs ruled by Saturn or Venus, often find it a productive period of consolidation.

Which phase is hardest?

It varies by chart. The middle phase, when Saturn transits the Moon sign itself, is often the most intense, but the house Saturn occupies matters too.
