Kaal Sarp Dosha Puja
The Kaal Sarp Dosha Puja is a traditional Vedic ritual for Kaal Sarp Yoga, performed in your name with Rahu and Ketu mantras, Naga (serpent) worship and a havan. Kaal Sarp Yoga is said to form when all seven planets sit on one side of the Rahu-Ketu axis, and it is often linked with repeating delays.

- Not physical planets: Rahu and Ketu are the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's path.
- Always opposite: they sit exactly 180° apart, so whatever Rahu activates, Ketu balances on the other side.
- Moving backwards: they travel in reverse through the zodiac, about 18 months in each sign.
- Pull and release: Rahu pulls toward the new, the foreign and the ambitious. Ketu loosens our grip on what is finished.
- Why timing matters: in a Rahu or Ketu period, a chart check shows which houses are being stirred and how to work with them.

How is the Kaal Sarp Dosha Puja performed?
It is performed on your behalf, usually on a Monday or an auspicious lunar day, with a sankalpa in your name, so you don’t need to be present. Arjun first confirms from your chart that the dosha is actually present and not cancelled, then the priests perform the ritual and you receive confirmation once it is complete.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kaal Sarp Dosha in classical texts?
It is debated. Kaal Sarp Yoga is widely used in modern practice but is not described in the oldest classical texts, which is one reason Arjun reads it alongside the rest of the chart rather than on its own.
How do I know if I have it?
Your chart needs to be checked. A full yoga needs every planet on one side of the nodes; one planet outside the axis breaks it.
Is it a one-time puja?
Usually, yes. Most people perform it once, alongside simple ongoing Rahu and Ketu remedies.
