Karwa Chauth Pooja – Vrat & Chandra Arghya Muhurat (Online)

Every year, women across Australia keep the Karwa Chauth vrat using timings copied from an Indian calendar — then spend the evening at the window wondering whether the moonrise they were given is even theirs. It isn’t. Moonrise, the Chaturthi Tithi and the evening puja window all shift with your latitude, your time zone and daylight saving.

This Karwa Chauth Pooja guide removes that doubt. A qualified, experienced Vedic Pandit calculates your Shubh Muhurat for your exact city using the five limbs of the Panchang — Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Lagna. You know precisely when your vrat begins, when to sit for the Karwa Mata puja and katha, and when the moon actually rises over your home for Chandra Arghya.

Every step is time-aligned: Sargi before sunrise, your Sankalpa at the start of the fast, the evening puja inside its auspicious window, and arghya the moment the moon is visible — so each part of your observance meets the moment the tradition intends, under the most favourable planetary influences of the day.

You perform the entire pooja in the comfort and sanctity of your own home. No temple queues, no cross-town drive on a working Thursday, no guesswork.

Before the day, you receive a complete, categorised Pooja Samagri checklist — from the karwa and chhalni (sieve) to the sindoor, diya and Sargi items — so you can shop once and prepare calmly.

And because every family’s Puja Vidhi differs a little, we include a curated online search guide: the exact search terms, in the right order, to find trusted step-by-step videos and texts for the Sankalpa, Karwa Chauth Katha, aarti and Chandra Arghya mantra. With correct timings and a full Samagri list in hand, following an online vidhi becomes simple and accurate.

A note from me, Arjun: I’ve lost count of the women in Australia who have broken their fast on a moonrise time meant for Delhi. Your devotion deserves the correct moment. Every timing in this guide is calculated for your city — not converted from somebody else’s.

Search these, in this order, on Google or YouTube. Together they walk you through the full Puja Vidhi, mantras and aarti — and because you already hold your Pandit-calculated Muhurat and complete Samagri, you can follow along accurately.

Tips for getting reliable results

• Add “step by step” plus your language to any search, e.g. “… step by step in Hindi” or “… in English”.
• Prefer videos and pages from established temples, recognised priests or long-running devotional channels.
• Cross-check any mantra or step against a second source before you rely on it.
• Where an online video differs from your family custom, follow your family custom.
• Ignore the times quoted in online videos and articles — they are usually for Indian cities. Use only the Pandit-calculated Muhurat for your city.

When is Karwa Chauth 2026 in Australia?
Karwa Chauth 2026 falls on Thursday 29 October in Australia, the same date as in India. The puja window and moonrise, however, differ from city to city — your guide gives the exact times for where you live. Moonrise is late this year: about 11:09 pm in Sydney, 11:49 pm in Melbourne, 11:22 pm in Canberra, 11:35 pm in Adelaide, 9:41 pm in Brisbane, 10:05 pm in Darwin and 10:30 pm in Perth, and just after midnight in Hobart.

Does a Pandit perform the pooja for me?
Yes. A qualified, experienced Vedic Pandit performs your Karwa Chauth pooja online with the proper rituals and mantras, and takes your Sankalpa in your family’s name. You join from home and perform the pooja alongside at the Muhurat calculated for your city, so it happens in your own home at the correct moment.

Why are slots limited?
Each pooja has to be performed inside the festival’s auspicious Muhurat, which lasts only a few hours, so our Pandit can take only a limited number of families for Karwa Chauth. Once the slots are filled, bookings close — book early to secure yours.

What details do I need to give when booking?
Your city or suburb (so the Pandit can calculate local timings) and your family tradition if you know it. Your name and gotra are optional and are used for the Sankalpa wording.

What if clouds hide the moon?
Your guide explains the traditionally accepted practice for offering arghya after the calculated moonrise time when the moon is not visible.
