That single shift in how I read a chart, from forecasting events to identifying the work a period is asking of someone, took me years to fully understand. If I could hand my younger self one piece of advice before he read his first chart professionally, it would be exactly that.

A Saturn (Shani) period doesn’t hand you hardship for its own sake — it asks you to build patiently, honestly, and without shortcuts; the outcome depends on whether you’re willing to do that unglamorous work. The chart tells you the nature of the invitation. It has never, in over two decades of practice, told me the outcome independent of what the person actually did with it. Even a strong Karaka — the significator planet for a particular life area, such as Jupiter for wisdom and children or Venus for relationships and comfort — describes the quality of the opportunity, not a guaranteed result.
